N-2026 The Nosing Line
job N-2026-025

Eight categories are refused, each with a reason; the two most expensive refusals are product reviews and affiliate links, and both are kept deliberately.

Not covered: what this line will not write

checked 2026-09-16kept by The Nosing Line (a named line, not a person)

A table of the categories this site refuses to write with a reason for each
A refusal list is also a scope guard.
A three-outcome flow for borderline topics
Deferred is not refused, and neither is a guess. Not to scale.
A checklist showing the two refusals that cost the site the most traffic
Both refusals are deliberate and both are recorded here.

The list, with a reason per line

Not writtenReason
Nosing strip and handrail reviewsa review needs comparative testing this line does not run, and without it the page is an opinion with a link in it
Affiliate or sponsored contentthe line has no revenue relationship with any manufacturer, and introducing one would change which pages exist
Stair design galleriesjudged by photograph rather than by dimension, which is the opposite of what this line does
Liability, insurance and claims adviceno responsible party here can answer a question about somebody's exposure
Personal-injury helpa different discipline with a different evidence base; this line would be guessing
Ramp and lift comparisonsa different geometry governed by a different set of clauses
Drawing reviewsthe line describes what a stair measures; it does not check anybody's drawings
Anything without an extra incha sheet that repeats the first page of results has no reason to exist

The two refusals that cost the most

Refusing product reviews removes the highest-traffic content in this subject area, and refusing affiliate links removes the obvious way to pay for the site. Both refusals are kept because the alternative is a line whose sheets exist to move a purchase rather than to answer a measurement question, and readers can tell the difference, which is exactly why the measurement sheets would stop being believed.

What happens when a topic is borderline

If a topic needs a reading this line cannot take, it is refused. If it needs a reading this line can take but has not taken, it is deferred and listed as an open question. If it needs a reading this line has taken on one stair, it is published as a bulletin with the position, the instrument and the date stated, and it is marked as a figure that can move.

A refusal list is also a scope guard. Without one, a line drifts toward whatever gets traffic, and the drift is invisible until the site is a different site.

Documents checked

  1. 1OSHA eTool: Construction -- Falls -- Unprotected Sides and Edgessupports the edge-protection guidance that bounds what this line will assess
  2. 2Chapter 4: Accessible Routes -- Guide to the ADA Standardssupports the accessible-route standard that decides which stairs are in scope
  3. 3Stair-Fall Risk Parameters in a Controlled Gait Laboratory Environment (MDPI Sensors)supports the measurement work that a product comparison would have to match

Each line points at one specific document, with its own title as the link text. No line is a home page and no line is a search result.

File this and go Close this page if your question is on the list. The line will not answer it, and saying so is the useful part.
